Lopar is a picturesque tourist place 14 km away from the old town nucleus of Rab. The pre-historic site on its promontory "Zidine", Liburnian hill-forts and the grave mounds scattered all around the peninsula are an evidence that it was populated at the time and are also an evidence of the importance this part of the island had in ancient history. For example, Lopar was the native place of St. Marin, stone-carver and founder of the Republic of San Marino.
The place is encircled by many bays, and with 22 sand beaches offers the best that beaches is the famous magnificent natural beach Crnika - Rajska plaza (Paradise beach), over 150 metres long, along which the hotel rsettlement and the motor-camp "San Marino" extend.
Lopar is also known for a natural phenomenon - the submarine cave "Medova buza", which is in fact the habitat of the Mediterranean monk seal, where international marriages are organized for those fond of sensations.
If you decide to come by airplane, the nearest airport is on the island of Krk (www.rijeka-airport.hr).
If you are comming by train, the nearest railway station is in Rijeka.
On the ferry route Stinica - Misnjak, ferries of Rapska plovidba traffic 8 - 20 times a day (in season even more) in both directions. Drive takes about 20 min.
On the ferry route Valbiska - Lopar, ferries of Jadrolinija traffic 4 times a day. Drive takes about 90 min.
